Granite

Granite is a naturally occurring igneous rock that is formed deep within the earth’s crust. It is composed primarily of quartz and feldspar along with minor amounts of mica, amphiboles, and other minerals. Granite has been used as a building material since ancient times. Prized for centuries as an exceptionally durable construction material, granite has been used to build everything from pyramids and temples to sculptures and grave markers. Owing to characteristics such as extreme hardness, resistance to staining and scratching, and distinctive mineral patterning, granite countertops play a central role in countless modern kitchen makeovers.
